thank you

i'd like to thank all of those who replied to my last post. i didn't think it was at all one that would start a series of replies like it did. i owe it all to alicia.

if you haven't read all the comments in 'processing' I encourage you to do so. there are some great things to contemplate.

there is a chapel on campus called 'seekers chapel' which focuses on discussing difficult christian topics. this week the theme is "to what extent can God know the future." It would be nice to hear you opinions.

I will blog and make mine known at a later date.

hey man. God and time. i wrote a paper about this for one of my classes in religious studies for my undergrad. it definitely got me thinking. i think i concluded that no matter how many books i read on the subject, i will never know how much future God knows and what part he plays in that. as for what opinions formed from that is a different story. i think he knows all the future, even though a lot of that future is based on our (human) decisions. he knows what we are going to do before we do it. whether its right or wrong, but he chooses not to stop us. he loves us too much. anyway. hope that made sense. miss ya man.

Hey Big Ty. I was trying to track down your email address and found your blog instead. This'll do. It was great hanging out with you some this summer. Sorry it couldn't have been more. But we're not all members of a posh country club like Maple Ridge...if you know what I mean. Heh, heh.

So I still have your book - what do you want to me to do with it?

Regarding God and time (while I'm here)...I think the question "Is God bound by time?" is more primary than the "Does God know the future?" question. Because if He exists outside of time, then concepts we humans find useful (and necessary to our finite minds) like past, present and future are - to a certain degree - irrelevant in the mind of God. In that case, past, present, and future - in the mind of God, not ours - are essentially the same thing and God knowing the future is the same question as God knowing the past. I may be missing something huge, but that's where I start from. If you know what I mean.

Anyway, this may be too late, and maybe you've already got it all figured out and moved on! But I thought I'd weigh in while I was here.

Send me an email about the book, OK? Have a great fall at school. Keep up the pursuit of great questions like this!
